Product Description
This release includes five films that capture London's Docklands in all their glory from the 1920s to the 1960s. 'City of Ships' was filmed during 1938 and 1939 and provides a stylish account of London's docks at work prior to the outbreak of World War II. 'Sweet Thames' was filmed in 1968 by Colin Porter and looks at the problem of pollution on the Thames and Port of London Authority's monitoring of water contamination. 'London River and Docks' takes a look at the many and diverse ships working the Thames and the facilities provided for them. 'Pola Fen London' takes you on a trip down river on board a Port of London Authority launch, stopping off to look at activities in the docks along the route. Finally, 'Port of London 1924' is a silent film that includes aerial film of Thames Haven, Tilbury, the Royal Victoria and Albert Docks, and the King George V Docks.
